Why I haven't blogged for so long

How am I suppose to blog when I stay in the newsroom until late in the night?

Anyway, I was chatting with a friend on msn the other day and I was telling him that his nickname was too wierd. It said, when you have only 10 cents in your hand, always remember that there are people with only 1 cent in theirs - be contented.

I was arguing with him on the morality of that statement.

I was telling him that the quote would be more appropriate if it were, when you have only 10 cents in your hand, always remember that there are people with a million in theirs - be motivated.
It's true, isn't it?

People who are contented, tend to remain stagnant all the time, whereas people who are motivated tend to strive harder for whatever they're doing.

Tired, tired, tired

If I recall correctly, I have only started work not long ago, but I'm tired, tired, tired. Dead tired. I reached the CNA newsroom at 10am and only left at almost 10pm.

I really admire the endurance and vigor of the media crew - CNA, cameramen and all. Days and days of hard work, long hours, crazy schedules, and not a single complaint. I have lots to learn from them, really. Maybe one day I can train myself to be like them really, in terms of attitude. What is the word used here? Ah, professionalism.

I'm haven't regretted joining Channel News Asia. I'm learning a lot. Many things I've never learnt before, because I don't have a mass communications background. So when it comes to broadcasting jargons and video editing, I'm just a retard, and I think I'll really burst into hysterical fits if I can't get my story done up in time for air time. but I guess I'll learn the ropes by the time I leave CNA.

Interning there is fun, really. You get to mix around with the reporters, anchors, and they are really nice people. Helpful, too, considering I'm so new and clueless to whatever is going on.

But I feel so weird now when I watch the news. I can't describe it at this point in time. Maybe next time when I can actually describe that feeling, I just might post it up.

Anyway, I don't think anyone of them are ever going to read this, but... thanks Mun Wai, and especially Julia and Valarie. The amount of time they spend, teaching me stuff is just incredible.

World Cup Finals & Internship Day 1

Italy 1 France 1

And then Italy won the panelty shootout.

So Italy wins the World Cup.

I couldn't watch the match because I had to work this morning, but I guess I didn't miss much because France didn't win. I think the only thing I miss is Zidane's dramatic end to his career. Yeah, I meant the head butt.

Although I missed the match, I got the results the first thing when I woke up. Why? Because Yixi messaged me "Italy won!". Then Esther messaged "France lost."

I did my internship at Mediacorp news today. I guess I might consider entering this field of work after graduation, provided I don't collapse from the physical strain fist. One minute of news on air takes up tons of time to prepare, honestly.

I really hope I have enough energy and zest to last for the month.

Ok, so tired. I'm going to sleep.

World Cup Day 23

3:00 Portugal 0 France 1

At the beginning of the World Cup, whenever I told people France will win the World Cup, they laughed. They thought I was either joking, or severely demented. The French, themselves, were not proud of their own team. One of my french teachers sniggered when I casually mentioned Les Bleus to him. "Aiyah", he said in perfect singlish, "France... lousy lah." Well, who can blame him, or anyone else? France didn't score a single goal in the previous World Cup four years ago in Korea.

This year, France has performed much better and well above everyone's expectations. They won the matches against Spain, Brazil, and now Portugal. It is now, France, who will meet Italy in the Finals on Monday.

I stayed awake this morning to watch the Portugal-France match and once again, the results didn't let me down. Zidane scored in the only goal of the match when France was awarded the panelty.

One highlight of the game is Christiano Ronaldo, not because he played an excellent game but because he was booed throughout it. Yeah, he's paying for the Wayne Rooney incident. Just because it was Rooney who got the red card, everyone hates Ronaldo now. It wasn't even his fault.

Grow up, people.

World Cup Day 22

3:00 Italy 2 Germany 0 (Extra-time)

Who would have thought that it will be the Italians who will enter the finals of the World Cup this year? Two goals in the last two minutes of extra time crushed the dreams of the Germans.

Tonight will be the match which decides whom the Italians will face next. My bet will be the French, and I hope it will be the French. They have not disappointed me in the past few matches - against Spain, and later against Brazil. Les Bleus (the blues), are what they are more fondly known as and they have often been criticized for being the 'old men' team, but they have proven to the world that their age barrier isn't a barrier at all. Superb football, they play.

Football aside, I'm mentally preparing myself for Monday. I'm starting my internship at Mediacorp then.

Oh look, I finally uploaded the pictures taken during the Fête de la Musique last month.

That's Esther and I at the AF exibition. Argh, our faces look too big in here and I realise both our spectacles look rather similar.

Okay, this looks better. I'm doing the Stamford Raffles signature pose.

And that's Esther.

All I want to say is... THANKS JULIET.

World Cup Day 21

3:00 Brazil 0 France 1

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Les Bleus..............................

They won when everyone thought they would go home. No one expected them enter even the round of 16. But they have beaten the top teams to reach the semi-finals. They have beaten Spain, and now Brazil!

Félicitations, les bleus!!!

World Cup Day 20

3:00 Italy 3 Ukraine 0
23:00 England 0 Portugal 0

Yes, tonight is a night of football. Two great matches. England vs. Portugal, and then Brazil vs. France at 3am.

The England game is a tough match. I'm rooting for Portugal though.

Okay, its quite late now. The English match is over. Wayne Rooney is out. England is out. That poor chap got red carded. David Beckham was taken out also. However, this match had a great penalty shootout. The Portugese goalkeeper is really good. He saved a good number of panelties.

I went to Macs for supper with my dad and cousin after the match. Very crowded.

Okay, I'm going to watch the Brazil - France match later.

Allez! Allez! Les bleus!!!
